About The Imeche

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) is a professional association with over 113,000 members in 140 countries. Its members work in an array of industries such as railway, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, energy, biomedical and construction.



After producing its member magazine in-house for many years, the IMechE decided on a change of direction. It wanted to strengthen and broaden its content offering by enhancing the look, feel and content of Professional Engineering (PE).


Caspian drew on its design expertise to overhaul the magazine, using strong images throughout and a layout that made the copy easy to read. But this wasn’t just about aesthetics: we radically reworked the content too. News analysis, in-depth technical features and opinion from high-profile industry

figures were some of the many additions. After relaunching in 2010, 95% of readers rated PE a key member benefit and 72% of them rated it ‘highly’ or ‘very highly’. We also made further improvements later, which attracted positive member feedback.
